Celebrate a new season with new ways to get engaged with Phoenix Society!

Spring is in full swing at Phoenix Society, which means we’re gearing up for a number of great events and we hope you'll join in on the fun!

Register today for Phoenix WBC: Engage

Can you believe we're just a month and a half away from our inaugural Phoenix WBC: Engage? We're excited to offer new opportunities along with classic sessions for a day full of connection, learning, and healing! We also invite you to join us for a week full of engagement opportunities and events leading up to the conference. All events are free except as noted below:

Don't wait to register - Early bird pricing is only available until April 14, 2021. Registration will then increase to $40.

It's Donate Life Month!

April is Donate Life Month – a time to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation and promote the importance of registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor. Many burn survivors are alive today because of tissue transplant – including Jamie Nieto. Jamie was an aspiring golfer, but after his burn injury, he wasn’t sure if he would ever be able to swing a golf club again. Learn more about his journey and tissue donation here.

Team Burney is SOARing

Celebrate warmer weather and springtime by joining us we put the MOVE in MOVEment with Phoenix Society’s first ever virtual 5k! What does virtual mean? It means that you can complete your 5k anywhere, any time, however you choose. Sign up and create or join a team here! Not able to commit to a 5k? Not to worry! You can also give a donation of any amount to support the programs at Phoenix Society!

We also want to give a special thanks to all of the teams and individuals who have already registered and completed their 5k! One Phoenix SOAR team in particular, ‘Team Burney’ at Vanderbilt Regional Burn Center in Nashville, TN, is SOAR-ing to new heights. They have recruited over 80 team members who have raised over $5,500 in a matter of a few short weeks. Our own Martha Boks sat down with ‘Captains’ Megan Bergfeld and Annie Mitchell to learn more about their team name and motivation - read the full interview here!

Stories heal us, inspire us, connect us

When you share your story in Virtual Open Mic, you’re opening a door and letting a piece of yourself into the world. Your story is taking on a life of its own. Your words might offer a glimpse of hope or show someone they’re not alone. You may never know how many people need to hear what only you can say. But one thing is certain: your story will make a difference.

Lowering Wildfire Risk

“By educating the public on wildfire prevention and disaster preparedness, my hope is that we can help prevent future tragedies similar to those experienced by me and my family.” - Allyson Watson

Allyson’s family was forced to evacuate their home during one of the worst wildfire seasons in the history of southern California. Learn more about her journey and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)'s new initiative Outthink Wildfire™ here.

Upcoming Events

April 7 – 9: American Burn Association (ABA)’s Annual Meeting
We’re just a few days away from ABA’s 53rd Annual Meeting! Amy Acton and Pam Peterson are both set to present during multiple events over the course of the three-day conference. We also invite you to visit our exhibitor booth! Spend some time to learn more about Phoenix Society, AlloSource, and all of the organizations exhibiting at ABA and what they have to offer.

May 22: Phoenix SOAR Peer Supporter Virtual Course
We have shifted our model of training for Phoenix SOAR to a virtual delivery, allowing us to provide training in real time throughout the year! Prior to course participation, we require registration and full screening by the Phoenix SOAR Hospital Coordinator (Peer Supporters only). Learn more about our Phoenix SOAR updates and training dates here. We encourage registration as soon as possible to secure a slot in your desired course!

Get Involved with LIBRE

We are still searching for burn survivors to take part in the LIBRE Journey Study! The study aims to get a better understanding of the social recovery after a burn injury. By participating, survivors can earn up to $100 in Amazon gift cards. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our research, please contact: Boston-HarvardBIMS@partners.org or (617) 952-6302.
