During this season of thanks and giving, Phoenix Society is reflecting on the incredible gratitude we have for our supportive community that makes our work possible. Whether you give of your time, talent or treasure, your generosity ensures that survivors, loved ones, and care teams have access to better care, stronger support, and a community that transforms recovery. Together, we believe in the endless potential of what can be.

We were pleased to feature emerging survivor voices such as Audra Bryant, Samuel Moore-Sobel, Dr. Lise Deguire, Barbara Kammerer Quayle, and so many more to share excerpts from their published books or works-in-progress. This session showcased the incredible talent of our community and the healing power of storytelling.
Niki Averton's writing for kids includes the picture book SARA’S STEPS. Through Sara’s back-to-school story, young burn survivors, siblings, and children of burn survivors can learn to answer questions, respond to staring, and tell their story with confidence.

Jane Fayer first learned about Phoenix Society from a waiting room poster at the burn center where she received treatment in 2020. She was grateful to get connected to virtual peer support early on in her healing. After participating in Phoenix WBC: Engage in the spring she knew she wanted to pay it forward and help other survivors attend in October.
