Known by most as "January”, James January was burned on 85-90% of his body in September of 1991. He was a 21 year old college student senior a year away from completing his degree & receiving a Military Intelligence US Army commission. After a period of struggle due to burn injury & a search for something that would equal the military challenge, he became involved with education, prevention and post burn programs at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. He founded BurnSurvivor.org armed with the belief that any program designed to work beyond the hospital doors - anything dealing with the prevention of burn injury, life beyond a burn injury, or getting the patient from living to thriving in spite of a burn injury - functions best with a well trained, highly motivated burn survivor as part of the team.
