What Is the Peer Support Chat for Burn Survivors & Loved Ones?

Every week, Peer Support Chat offers a vital connection to the burn community for burn survivors and family members. In this online conversation, moderated by trained Phoenix SOAR peer supporters, participants from all over the world can address questions and concerns about burn recovery. 

Peer Support Chat is hosted on Facebook through Phoenix Society's Online Survivor Community every Wednesday from 8 - 9 PM EST and is either a general discussion or a topic based discussion.

Joining Peer Support Chat

  • Join Phoenix Society's Online Survivor Community on Facebook.

    • This group is only available to burn survivors, family, and friends. We will not allow hospital partners or corporate teams into this group.

    • Members must answer three questions prior to being accepted into the group, including:

      • Identifying as a burn survivor, loved one, or caregiver,

      • Briefly describing the burn injury and what hospital the survivor was treated at,

      • Providing a valid email address,

      • And accepting the group rules and understanding of our weekly chat.

  • Once in the group, look for the "Chats" section (this may be under “See More” or in the left menu).

  • Find and click on "Wednesday Evening Peer Support." This will add you to the chat.

  • Once joined, you can also access the chat through the Messenger app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Join Phoenix Society’s Online Survivor Community on Facebook - a private group exclusively for burn survivors, their families, and close friends. To maintain a safe and supportive environment, hospital partners and corporate teams are not permitted to join.

New members must answer three questions before being accepted into the group: identify as a survivor, loved one, or caregiver; briefly describe the burn injury and the hospital where treatment was received; and provide a valid email address. Members must also accept the group rules and acknowledge the weekly peer support chat.

Once you're in the group, navigate to the “Chats” section (which may appear under “See More” or in the left-hand menu), and click on “Wednesday Evening Peer Support” to join. After joining, the chat can also be accessed through the Messenger app.
